You should hear from your Mahalo doctor within several hours. Off hours, such as midnight, may take slightly longer. Our goal is to have all consults answered within six hours.

• Two Monthly Visits: Each month, you receive two virtual visits with our healthcare providers. These visits can be used for a variety of medical needs, from urgent care consultations to follow-up appointments.
• Discounted Future Visits: After your two monthly visits, any additional visits you require will be offered at a discounted rate. This ensures that you can continue to access quality healthcare without worrying about high costs.
• Lab and Imaging Orders: As a Mahalo member, you have the flexibility to collaborate with your healthcare provider to order necessary lab tests and imaging. This helps in accurately diagnosing and managing your health conditions, ensuring you receive comprehensive care.

Please note, the monthly membership fee is non-refundable. However, after cancellation, you're still entitled to use your membership benefits until the end of your current billing cycle.

Before a US-licensed provider can prescribe any medication, we must confirm your identity. The most effective method in telemedicine involves utilizing a photograph of your state-issued photo ID. This verification process is crucial for our providers to ensure that you are above 18 years of age and are indeed the individual requesting the medication.

Your photo ID is stored safely and securely in your patient dashboard.

Your personal health information is stored encrypted using AES with a 256 bit site encryption key.

The records for each individual visit are able to be downloaded from each visit.

Each visit is subject to a one-time charge, which includes the services of a healthcare professional conducting a medical evaluation. Mahalo's healthcare providers are licensed professionals who dedicate time to thoroughly review each visit, ensuring they offer a personalized and evidence-based care plan. Once your visit is being reviewed by a provider, it is not possible to issue a refund.

Please be aware that the fees for the visits do not cover prescription medications or laboratory tests. Completing a visit does not automatically result in a prescription being issued; the decision to prescribe is based on the individual health needs of the patient and the clinical judgment of the provider. If you are insured, your insurance plan may partially or fully cover the cost of any prescribed medications, depending on your policy details. For precise information about your prescription coverage, contact your insurance company directly.

Insurance coverage for medications can vary widely from one plan to another. To determine if your insurance will cover a specific prescription, it's important to review your plan's formulary, which lists the medications your insurance includes. Keep in mind that coverage for certain medications may be limited to specific conditions or may require meeting particular criteria.

Even when a medication is covered under your insurance, there might still be a copayment involved. Additionally, the amount of this copay can differ depending on the pharmacy, as some insurance providers negotiate lower copay costs with certain pharmacies.

Prior authorization is a process where your health insurance requires additional approval before covering certain medications. This may be due to medication cost, availability of cheaper alternatives, or the drug being specific for certain conditions or listed in the insurance’s formulary.

Process Overview:

1. Your pharmacy attempts to process your prescription with your insurance.
2. If needed, your insurance asks for prior authorization.
3. Your healthcare provider sends necessary documentation to the insurance, detailing your medical need and treatment rationale.
4. The insurance reviews this and decides to approve, deny, or ask for more information.
5. Approval means your insurance may cover the medication, subject to your plan's benefits and possible copay.

Denials: If denied, you won't get insurance coverage for the medication but can pay out-of-pocket or consider alternative treatments covered by your insurance.

For Weight Loss Medications: Medications for weight loss, especially those FDA-approved for other conditions like type 2 diabetes, often require prior authorization. Without a related diagnosis, approval may be challenging, but alternatives could be suggested by your provider.
