The Mahalo Clinic Prescription Practice aims to offer affordable and accessible online urgent care for the state of Hawai'i. Committed to patient safety and well-being, the clinic employs evidence-based medication prescribing.
In terms of doctor-patient relationships and standard of care, the clinic values genuine collaboration between doctors and patients. Health conditions, patient preferences, and clinical guidelines are carefully considered before initiating treatment. Treatment is provided only when the standard of care can be met, and the most appropriate treatment is recommended. This may include over-the-counter medication, exercise, or prescription medication. If virtual care is deemed inadequate, patients are advised to seek in-person treatment.
Regarding controlled substances, the clinic's doctors do not prescribe controlled substances such as stimulants, opiates and benzodiazepines. For conditions requiring controlled substances, in-person treatment is recommended.
As a virtual care platform, Mahalo Clinic does not operate as a pharmacy. Patients have the freedom to choose their preferred pharmacy, and the clinic will transfer prescriptions to the pharmacy of choice upon request and in compliance with legal requirements.
The clinic supports prior authorization requests as required by insurance but is not responsible for insurance decisions. Patients should be aware that a copay may still be required by their insurance even with prior authorization.
If you are experiencing a medical emergency, please call 911 or visit your nearest emergency room.
